SPIRITUAL TRAINING GUIDE FOR YOUTH HUNTS

The following are SPIRITUAL training guidelines for volunteers working with Christian Outdoor Ministry as a LEAD GUIDE or SPIRITUAL LEADER for all youth hunts. These guidelines should be followed as written. Any questions should be addressed with Dr. Danny PRIOR to leading an event.

GOAL:    In addition to providing a fun, meaningful outdoor experience for youth and parents, COM also has a spiritual goal for each of our events:

  • To clearly present the Gospel and God’s plan for Salvation:
  • Bibilcal Assurance:
  • God loves you – John 3:16
  • We are all sinners – Romans 3:23
  • Jesus died on the cross for all our sins, He was buried, and raised by the power of God – Romans 5:8
  • We must repent of our sins, pray, and personally invite Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior – Romans 10:13
  • Prayer of Commitment: Lord Jesus, I believe that you love me. I have sinned. Please forgive me of all my sins. I repent of my sins. I believe that you died on the cross for all my sins, that you were buried and that you rose again by the power of God. Right now, I personally pray and invite you into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sins and for coming into my heart as my Lord and Savior right now. Thank you Lord for saving me. As best I know how, I will follow you as my Lord and my Savior for the rest of my life.

(SPIRITUAL GUIDE: you lead them to pray the above prayer silently or out loud phrase by phrase until they complete their prayer )

Then ask them these questions:

  • Did you pray the prayer ?
  • Were you sincere? Did you really mean what you prayed ? T
  • Then where is Jesus right now? He is in your  heart as your Lord and Savior – John 14:6

(4) Next Steps: to follow and grow in the Lord! We provide them with the green booklet, beginning with “Christ” by the Navigators and you walk them through it and explain the steps they need to follow to grow in their  faith in following Jesus as Lord and Savior. We must obey the Lord.

(5) Verses: the first verses they need to memorize and understand are verses of assurance. Every new believer must have assurance and be sure that they have been truly saved – I John 5:11-13  (in the beginning with Christ booklet, this verse is carefully explained.)

(6)  Accountability partners:  Each person must memorize all 5 verses to grow in the Lord, both youth and parent, or grandparent. It will take 5 weeks to memorize and learn and understand all 5 basic faith verses. The parent or grandparent will memorize all 5 verses with the youth, and each will hold each other accountable to memorize the five basic faith verses to grow in the Lord. These 5 verses are first steps to follow and grow in the Lord and obey Jesus as Lord and Savior.

(7) The First Act Of Obedience: be baptized by immersion as an act of obedience to follow the lord in believer’s Baptism. Baptism is a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river by John the Baptist to be an example for his disciples to follow also – Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 2:12

(8) Church: Each new believer needs a spiritual family, a church family to encourage them, support them and hold them accountable to grow in their faith each day of each week. Jesus died for his church. The church is critically important to help the new believer to grow in their faith. The new believer should attend a Bible-believing church that emphasizes a personal born again relationship to Jesus and preaches messages about knowing and following Jesus. If you need suggestions or guidance we can assist you to find a church that will support  you and help you to grow in your faith if you do not have a church family. If you already have a church you attend, then you need to share your decision with your pastor, youth pastor, Sunday school teacher or someone in your church who can encourage you in your decision to accept and follow Christ. Please share with your COM hunt leader, COM leadership or with Dr. Danny Souder about your follow up decisions to follow Christ, be baptized and begin growing in Christ through your church family.

(9) Your Faith Journey Begins: you have begun your journey of faith in following and accepting Christ. Jesus wants you to become  his disciple. A disciple is a learner and follower of Christ. He wants you to become a disciple and a disciple maker and a Christian leader in your faith decision to follow Him. There is much more to grow, learn and follow in your faith journey. Jesus and the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you each step in your walk with the lord – Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20

Your mission to accept now, is to follow Jesus each day in prayer, Bible study, and obedience to become a growing disciple and disciple maker and Christian leader to fulfill Jesus’s mission for  his followers: “to become a disciple of Jesus and to make disciples and disciple makers of all the world for his glory.” – Matthew 28:18-20;  Acts 1:8

Please know that our COM team loves you and  we are praying for you as you follow Jesus each day. If you have questions, if you need help or support, or if you have questions please contact:  Dr. Danny Souder – Phone: (214) 394-5250

God bless you double in Jesus’s name.  Amen, amen and amen!!!

The Response Card: at the end of the weekend, on Sunday morning between 10 am- Noon, we pass out the response card and lead the youth and parents to fill out the response card. One of the boxes to fill out and check is: “prayed the prayer to receive Christ.” That is the time we lead them in the prayer of commitment to receive Christ. They pass in the cards to the leader and that is the time we begin the follow up instructions described above.

We will be providing each person a Gideon Bible. At the front and back of the Gideon Bible are similar guidance instructions and a similar prayer to help you as well.
